Cowboys Snag Linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. in Trade with Titans

The Dallas Cowboys are making moves. They’ve worked out a deal with the Tennessee Titans to bring in linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. after just one season in Nashville.
The trade is a simple pick swap Tennessee sends Murray and a seventh-round pick to Dallas in exchange for a sixth-rounder. That means the Cowboys take on Murray’s two-year, $15.5 million contract, which includes a $5.99 million salary for the upcoming season.
Murray, a former first-round pick, didn’t quite live up to expectations with the Chargers, who originally drafted him in 2020. He struggled at times and was even benched in 2021. But last season, he put up solid numbers with 95 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble. Despite that, Pro Football Focus still ranked him among the worst full-time linebackers in the league.
The Titans, who have had a revolving door at linebacker, brought in Cody Barton this offseason but didn’t keep Jack Gibbens or Azeez Al-Shaair. Now, they’re moving on from Murray after just one year.
For Dallas, this is a low risk move. They need linebacker help, especially with Eric Kendricks gone and DeMarvion Overshown recovering from a major injury. If Murray can step up, he has a clear shot at a starting role in 2025.
