Android 16 Beta 3 Rolls Out for Pixel Phones: Here’s What’s New

Google just dropped Android 16 Beta 3 for Pixel devices, and this update is a big one. It’s reached the “Platform Stability” stage, meaning all the features and app-related changes are locked in. Developers can now tweak their apps to make sure everything runs smoothly when the final version drops.

What’s New in Android 16 Beta 3?

Better Audio for Hearing Aids & Earbuds
Google is adding support for Auracast broadcast audio, which lets compatible hearing aids and earbuds connect directly to public audio streams. Think airports, concerts, or classrooms—no need for extra equipment.

More Readable Text
High contrast text is out. Google has replaced it with outline text, which creates a clearer border around words, making them easier to read.

Local Network Protection (LNP)
Google is testing a new security feature to give users more control over which apps can access their local network. Right now, any app with internet permission can do this, but soon they’ll need special permission to connect.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed several issues that were draining battery life too fast.
  • Stopped random device reboots that were frustrating some users.
  • Fixed a problem where the At a Glance widget was showing outdated info.
  • Improved system stability, performance, and Bluetooth pairing.

How to Get Android 16 Beta 3

The update (BP22.250221.010) is now live for Pixel devices, including the Pixel 6 to the latest Pixel 9 Pro Fold. If you’re already in the beta program, check your settings for the update. If not, you can manually flash the system image from Google’s site.

Want to share feedback? Google’s got an Android Beta Feedback app, plus a dedicated community on Reddit for beta testers to report issues.

Stay tuned for more updates as Android 16 gets closer to its final release!
